New Shopping Village for North Coast

Construction is nearing the finish line on the new Pimpama Junction shopping village, with limited tenancies remaining ahead of the centre's July 5 opening.

Developed by Tipalea Partners, Pimpama Junction will boast a 2,700sqm Woolworths plus 21 specialty stores - with 16 tenancies already secured by a mix of food outlets and health and beauty services.

Managing director for Tipalea, Scott Spanton, recently visited the site with Richard Laws - development manager for Mirvac's Gainsborough Greens community, which neighbours the new shopping centre.

Mr Spanton said he was pleased with the progress made - with the main structure complete and specialty store fit outs now underway, which will be finalised over the coming weeks in the lead up to launch.

"We are on track with our construction program and we are looking forward to opening the centre to the public. I know Pimpama has been in need of a local shopping village, and there has been much anticipation and support from locals," he said.

"This enthusiasm has been echoed by the business community, with all but five tenancies taken up within a matter of months, leaving limited opportunity  to secure a space in the northern Gold Coast's newest retail premises.

"We have a good mix of tenants to date but we are still keen to lock in more fast food outlets - such as a Pizza, Fish and Chips and Charcoal Chicken shop, along with key services like a news agency and real estate office.

"The remaining tenancies range up to 150sqm, with five to seven year leases. Pimpama Junction is the only new retail development on the eastern side of the highway on the northern Gold Coast so it's a rare chance to get in on the ground floor of a fast growing region."

Mr Laws said the increasing interest in the Pimpama region was already evident at Gainsborough Greens.

"The shopping village adds to the convenience and lifestyle residents already enjoy," he said.

"I think Pimpama Junction will prove to be a huge draw card for bringing new people to the area - we already have great schools, parks and transport infrastructure, so a local shopping centre was the last piece of the puzzle."

Mirvac masterplanned communities Queensland development director Russell Berlee said Pimpama Junction had already had a positive impact on sales and enquiry at Gainsborough Greens.

"New housing and retail development goes hand in hand," he said.

"People are excited about the fact that there will soon be a shopping village within walking distance of Gainsborough Greens and that has certainly made people want to act quickly to secure property in our latest stage.

"In the past three months we have sold 50 lots, mainly to young families looking for an affordable place to live, and with population forecasts showing that the northern Gold Coast is the city’s fastest growing area, I expect this trend to continue."

Pimpama Junction will be officially launched on Saturday July 5 by Gold Coast Deputy Mayor Donna Gates, with a free fun day.

The fun day will include activities for the whole family, along with up to $3000 worth of shopping vouchers to be won.
